A lot has happened in Genoa since we last met. Amico & Co commenced operations with its bespoke 4000T ShipLift, specifically designed to meet the needs of vessels in the 60-90m segment, inaugurating five new on hard slots for vessels up to 95m. Amid the lockdown, the San Giorgio motorway bridge was opened in summer 2020, 45 metres above the valley and over a kilometre long, designed so that the bottom of the bridge looks like a ship’s hull. This reference was created by Renzo Piano, the star architect who designed it – and much more is being developed in Genoa, with his inimitable style. He gifted his “blueprint” to his native city and all cylinders are firing on development of the Genoa Waterfront Project, which is completely transforming the Genoa Fair area adjacent to Amico & Co.
In October 2020 Amico’s new berthing facility Waterfront Marina welcomed its first yachts and after a busy first 2020/2021 season, with more than 70 vessels choosing to berth at the new marina, the land development was completed in May 2021, offering crews top quality facilities, including an equipped gym, three sports courts, crew kitchens, training and meeting room, on site concierge, laundry and services.
In 2020 together with Pesto Sea Group, Amico & Co created the project Genoa Superyacht Hub, which is promoting Genoa’s modern guise as a Superyacht Hub to the international yachting community. Genoa is the ideal homeport for superyachts of all sizes, who seek a well-equipped yachting hub, able to offer all the necessary specialized services that an Owner, Captain, visitor, crew member or yachting professional could desire.
