The opening event included speeches from the President of Liguria, Marco Bucci and Vice Mayor, Alessandro Terrile.
Amico & Co Business Developer, Andrea Amico, spoke on behalf of Amico Marine alongside Massimo Gatti of Gatti Srl; Nicolò De Angelis and Maria Paola Calza of Genoa Sea Service Srl.
The guiding idea behind the initiative was to create shared infrastructure for three long-established organisations in the area. While retaining their individual identities and autonomy, they now have access to a location that can give new momentum to the growth and development prospects of their respective activities.
Andrea Amico, Business Developer at Amico Marine shared: “Amico Marine is participating in the Hub through Gatti, a company acquired in 2024 specifically with the aim of completing the range of services offered in the refit sector, extending it to medium-sized vessels. From a broader perspective, the Nautical Hub integrates the professional boating system that has developed in this area of the Port of Genoa and, more recently, in the Eastern Waterfront, whose nautical vocation makes the Hub unique at international level.”
For the Gatti and Genoa Sea Service boatyards, the new logistical set-up makes it possible to take on refit projects, both afloat and ashore, for vessels larger than in the past. For North Sails, relocating its headquarters to the heart of Genoa’s Waterfront, in the immediate vicinity of the Marina, offers not only greater visibility but also the opportunity to facilitate contact with and provide support for its customers.
“Gatti srl has been operating in this area of the port, serving Genoa’s boating community, for over 50 years,” said Vittorio Gatti, Operations Manager at Gatti srl. “Being a key player in the Nautical Hub project confirms our determination to look ahead and enables us to strengthen our position in the market, combining our shipyard’s tradition of professionalism with modern logistics and the provision of specialist expertise and organisational standards. Today we are announcing the commissioning of the new travel lift, which also involved the expansion of the hauling basin; an investment in addition to the covered sheds where we carry out refit and operations, complete with workshops, a joinery and offices. Looking ahead, our future plans include the electrification of the quays and further investments in the technical berths at our disposal.”
