The shipwright tradition continues to thrive at Amico & Co shipyard today.
The Amico family has played an essential role in the history of shipwrights in Liguria, dating back to the first Amico construction shipyard in Loano (1700-1800), and passing through the centuries to the Amico & Co shipyard of today, where both modern carpentry practices and artisan shipwrights are available to bring expertise to any manner of design project.
Our facilities include 1,600m² of fully-equipped workshops for wood, offering dedicated craftsmanship with over twenty-five years of experience in this field. Interior modifications for modern motor yachts including the construction of entire teak decks, ceiling panel construction, the building of external furniture such as tables, chairs, divans and bar areas. We work seamlessly with wood chosen to match the pre-existing joinery or according to the specific interior and exterior design project.
Amico & Co’s reputation means a number of traditionally built classic yachts are entrusted to the yard each year for a variety of maintenance works, or for complete restoration. Few shipyards in the world have such a record of accomplishments in classic yacht restoration, which includes hull repairs and restoration, including caulking by hand, teak decking, wood deckhouse construction, repairs to wooden masts/booms, and the rebuilding of wooden doors, hatches and wood deck accessories.
Amico & Co S.p.A. has received financial support from the EU to carry out investment programmes, both in 2017, thanks to a grant application made on 5.12.2016 pursuant to Action 3.1.1 of the POR FESR LIGURIA 2014-2020 with the purpose of extending the production facility buildings, machinery and equipment as well as in 2021 for business digitization and for adapting production processes due to Covid 19.
